These terms explain how you may use smol and what to expect from the service.
Welcome to smol
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the smol mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by smol ("smol," "we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use smol.
Eligibility and Accounts
To use smol, you must:
- Be at least 13 years old or the minimum age required in your location.
- Have authority to agree to these Terms.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- Keep your device, sign-in methods, and account credentials secure.
You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account, including actions taken by people you invite to help care for a pet.
The Service
smol helps you organize pet care. Features may include:
- Pet profiles.
- Daily check-ins.
- Quick logs.
- Reminders.
- Inventory.
- Routine checklists.
- Sharing groups.
- Condition tracking.
- Health snapshots.
- Charts.
- Reports.
- Related settings.
We may add, change, limit, suspend, or remove features. Some features depend on:
- Your device.
- Your region.
- Your operating system.
- Your app version.
- Your subscription status.
- Third-party services.
- Your internet connection.
Not Veterinary Advice
smol provides tools, reminders, logs, summaries, charts, reports, and automated observations for educational and organizational purposes only. smol is not:
- A veterinary clinic.
- A veterinarian.
- A diagnostic tool.
- An emergency service.
- A substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your pet's:
- Health.
- Medications.
- Symptoms.
- Behavior changes.
- Diet.
- Treatment.
- Emergency care.
Do not disregard or delay professional veterinary advice because of information shown in smol.
User Content
You retain your rights to content you submit to smol ("User Content"), including:
- Pet profiles.
- Photos.
- Logs.
- Check-ins.
- Notes.
- Reports.
- Reminders.
- Inventory entries.
- Sharing-group information.
- Other content you submit to smol.
You grant us a limited license to use User Content as needed to:
- Provide the Service.
- Maintain the Service.
- Protect the Service.
- Troubleshoot the Service.
- Improve the Service.
This limited license includes hosting, storing, processing, displaying, transmitting, backing up, securing, and otherwise using User Content for those purposes.
You are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, and appropriateness of your User Content. You should not upload content that you do not have permission to use or share.
Pet Sharing
smol may let you:
- Create sharing groups.
- Invite family members or pet sitters.
- Assign roles.
- Grant access to selected pet information.
When you invite someone or join a group, certain information may be visible to other authorized members according to the group settings and permissions, including:
- Pet profiles.
- Photos.
- Care logs.
- Reminders.
- Checklist items.
- Notes.
- Activity.
You are responsible for:
- Inviting the right people.
- Choosing appropriate permissions.
- Removing access when it is no longer needed.
We are not responsible for what authorized group members do with information they can access through your sharing settings.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data.
- Interfere with, disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the Service except where allowed by law.
- Upload malicious code, harmful files, or content that violates the rights of others.
- Misrepresent pet health information in a way that could harm an animal or another person.
- Use smol to provide veterinary services unless you are properly licensed and independently responsible for that care.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Some features require a paid subscription or purchase, currently called smol plus. The following may change over time:
- Paid features.
- Prices.
- Trial availability.
- Limits.
- Included functionality.
Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store and our subscription provider RevenueCat. Apple App Store terms and payment rules also apply.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through the Apple App Store before the renewal date. The following actions do not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription:
- Deleting your smol account.
- Deleting the app.
- Stopping use of smol.
To stop future charges, cancel through your Apple App Store subscription settings.
Free users may see ads. smol plus users may receive an ad-free experience where available. Ads and ad consent flows may be provided by third-party advertising partners.
Notifications and Reminders
smol may send notifications if you enable them, including:
- Reminders.
- Pet activity notices.
- Health snapshot notices.
- Re-engagement nudges.
- Similar notifications.
Reminders are convenience tools and may be delayed, missed, duplicated, or unavailable because of:
- Device settings.
- Operating system behavior.
- Network conditions.
- Third-party services.
Do not rely on smol as your only reminder for urgent or medically important pet care.
Privacy and Security
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information. By using smol, you agree that we may process information as described in the Privacy Policy.
We use practical safeguards such as:
- Authentication.
- Encrypted transport.
- Protected storage.
- Access controls.
- Monitoring.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.
Third-Party Services
smol relies on third-party services for:
- Authentication.
- Cloud hosting.
- Database and storage.
- Push notifications.
- Purchases.
- Analytics.
- Crash reporting.
- Ads.
- App distribution.
- Other operations.
Third-party services may have their own terms, privacy practices, outages, limits, and fees.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, interface, design, trademarks, logos, and other materials, is owned by smol or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of smol or third-party intellectual property to you.
Account Deletion and Termination
You may delete your account from app settings. Account deletion is intended to remove the following from active systems according to our deletion process:
- Your account.
- Pets.
- Logs.
- Reminders.
- Health records.
- Photos.
- Related app data.
This deletion process is subject to backups, legal obligations, fraud prevention, security needs, and records we must retain to operate the Service.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you:
- Violate these Terms.
- Create risk for smol or other users.
- Misuse the Service.
- Keep accessing the Service in a way that would be unlawful or harmful.
Disclaimers and Limits
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that smol will be:
- Uninterrupted.
- Secure.
- Accurate.
- Complete.
- Error-free.
- Suitable for every pet, care routine, medical situation, or device.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, smol and its owners, employees, contractors, partners, and service providers will not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
- Lost profits.
- Lost data.
- Business interruption.
- Veterinary costs.
- Damages exceeding the amount you paid to smol in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting updated Terms in the app, on our website, or through another reasonable notice. Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
